Spinach & Potatoe Mash

Spinach and Potato Mash is a creamy and flavorful dish made by blending mashed potatoes with sautéed or steamed spinach. It combines the earthy taste of spinach with the smooth, buttery texture of potatoes, often seasoned with garlic, salt, pepper, and sometimes a touch of cream or cheese for added richness. It’s a nutritious and versatile side dish that pairs well with a variety of main courses.

Instructions

  1. Boil potatoes in saltwater until done, strain away water and keep warm.

  2. Heat butter in a pan and fry onion without allowing colour

  3. Add washed spinach and saute for 1 minute (soft)

  4. Crush potatoes coarsely and add to the spinach

  5. Add cream, stir firmly, add nutmeg and taste to adjust seasoning

Ingredients

  • 200 g Potatoes, peeled and diced

  • 20 g Butter

  • 30 g Onions, chopped

  • 80 g Spinach (regular), stalks removed and roughly chopped

  • 30 ml Cream

  • A pinch of Salt

  • 1 pinch Nutmeg Powder
